A Novel Concept of Partial Lorenz Curve and Partial Gini Index
نویسنده
چکیده
Lorenz curve and Gini index are the famous tools of income inequality. When one wants to study income inequality of a class of individuals, Partial Lorenz Curve is introduced and the corresponding measure of inequality called Partial Gini Index is defined. Partial Gini Index (PGI) is derived on Partial Lorenz Curve (PLC). Partial orderings are defined for comparison of partial Lorenz curves. For illustration purpose, real life data set of per capita Net State Domestic Product (NSDP) at current prices of States and Union territories of India are taken for the year 1998-99. Partial Gini Index is evaluated for three different classes of community and the results are discussed comparing with the Gini Index of the entire community. It is observed that Partial Gini Index gives more insight into the income inequality distribution between different classes of society.

Tsallis Maximum Entropy Lorenz Curves
In this paper, at first we derive a family of maximum Tsallis entropy distributions under optional side conditions on the mean income and the Gini index. Furthermore, corresponding with these distributions a family of Lorenz curves compatible with the optional side conditions is generated. Meanwhile, we show that our results reduce to Shannon entropy as $beta$ tends to one. Finally, by using ac...
متن کاملEquity analysis of hospital beds distribution in Shiraz, Iran 2014
Background: One of the important aspects of equity in health is equality in the distribution of resources in this sector. The present study aimed to assess the distribution of hospital beds in Shiraz in 2014. Methods: In this retrospective cross-sectional study, the population density index and fair distribution of beds were analyzed by Lorenz curve and Gini coefficient, respectively....
متن کاملModeling multidimensional inequality in well-being: the case of Spain
The aim of this paper is to assess the evolution of multidimensional inequality in well-being using Lorenz curves. Closed expressions for the bivariate Lorenz curve defined by Arnold (1983) are given. We assume a relevant type of models based on the class of distributions with given marginals described by Sarmanov and Lee (Lee, 1996; Sarmanov, 1966). This specification of the bivariate Lorenz c...
متن کاملThe Study of Justice in The Distribution of General and Specialized Physicians in Khuzestan Province: 2018
Background and Aim: Equitable distribution of health sector resources has always been one of the major challenges of this sector. Due to health care needs, equitable distribution of physicians is a determining factor in health system policies. The purpose of this study was to investigate the distribution of justice among the general practitioners and specialists in Khuzestan province. Materia...
متن کاملModeling inequality and spread in multiple regression
We consider concepts and models for measuring inequality in the distribution of resources with a focus on how inequality varies as a function of covariates. Lorenz introduced a device for measuring inequality in the distribution of income that indicates how much the incomes below the u quantile fall short of the egalitarian situation where everyone has the same income. Gini introduced a summary...
